Development of the Long March family of rockets began in 1965. Long March 1 first flew in April 1970. As of this writing, 3w3 variants have benn produced or are being developed. There are curently 20 variants in use, with 3 more being developed. Ten of the variants have been retired.
Only two are (or will be) manned rated and used for manned space flight. The CZ-2F launches the Shenzhou from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. The CZ-10 is under development and will be used for lunar Mengzhou missions launched from the Wenchang Space Launch Site.
