Two Indian nationals were part of the USSR's 1982 International Group. They were
Ravish Malhotra and
Rakish Sharma.
Sharma flew aboard Soyuz-T 11
while Malhotra was his backup.
Four vyomanauts underwent training in Russia for a flight in 2025.
Vyommitra (Sanskrit - "space friend") This robot is functional from the waist up and
will fly as a test subject on early Gaganyaan flights.
