Lanyue means "embracing the moon".

The Lanyue consists of two parts: the lunar and propulsion modules. It will have a total mass of 26,000 kg and accomodate two astronauts and a 200 kg rover.

Lanyue will launch on a Long March 10 (under development) separately from Mengzhou. Lanyue and Mengzhou will dock with each other to transfer crew before and after lunar landing.

Lanyue sucessfully completed a landing and takeoff test on 6 August 2025. Lunar landing is forecast for 2030.
